The Room of Ideas

At Homi Independent a selection of products and projects presenting innovative solutions for consumers and retailers.

Furniture, accessories, decorations, tableware, textiles, fragrances and essences, HOMI is the trade fair event par excellence, where contemporary living spaces and new living scenarios are the protagonists. It is to the latter that the new initiatives that will be staged in a few days at HOMI Independent, from 16 to 19 September 2022 at fieramilano (Rho) are dedicated.

This edition is even richer in new features, starting with the range of products and projects on offer. In fact, the Stanza delle Idee was created, an area entirely dedicated to innovative products, the result of design processes with unprecedented outcomes. Innovative start-ups will find expression and visibility here, selected for their most incisive proposals in terms of functionality, technology, sustainability (environmental, social, territorial). The aim of the Idea Room is to provide retailers, operators, professionals and visitors with a choice of products distinguished by original solutions and ideas. The showcased products were selected on the basis of three criteria: the efficiency of the products or services' functions; the performance effectiveness of the product or the usability of the service; and the innovativeness of the user experience. Projects and products that meet these criteria are marked with a distinctive plaque.

Here are some of the ideas:

Comodo and ComodoXL by Adriano design for Fabita is a project that starts from the archetypal container trolley and transforms it into a portable mini-kitchen: the metal lattice structure supports an induction hob with two cooking zones, a bar for hanging utensils and two ash wood shelves below. In the XL version, the cooking area is flush with a worktop, also in wood. A minimalist solution with versatility that adapts to new living requirements.

The Messanger backpack by Essential for Feellab is made of cellulose fibre, a natural material obtained from paper waste, with adjustable 100% regenerated cotton shoulder straps and plastic hook fasteners. You can write or draw on it like on a sheet of paper, personalising it. "Recycling is the only way we can give new life to materials that can be successfully reused, improving human life and the well-being of the planet itself," explains the manufacturer.

The Illy coffee machine designed by Luca Trazzi draws on the industrial design of the Italian 1960s. It features the new ECO mode with fast-heating technology, which significantly reduces energy consumption by eliminating the waiting time between dispensing.

Every single material used has been chosen to ensure extended machine durability. The paper used for the packaging is totally recycled and every other packaging element is designed with the environment in mind. Both preparation systems are environmentally friendly: E.S.E. pods, which are compostable, and ground coffee.

Candyslab's candy-shaped Candy multifunctional table lamp is equipped with a wireless charging base that can charge both lamp and smartphone. Recharging is accomplished in three hours, giving six hours of illumination without the need for a socket. It is characterised by two colourful pop-style patterns: Flower and Kiss.

Easy Life's DOLCE vita collection of plates, bowls, pastry dishes, salad bowls, pays homage to the tradition of Italian ceramics, with the aim of enhancing the combination of creativity and quality typical of Made in Italy. Production takes place in Civita Castellana, a place in central Italy where the tradition of ceramics has been preserved for centuries. Master craftsmen in their workshops have skilfully transformed the clay of their land into objects for everyday use, enriching our tables with tableware embellished with their hand-painted decorations.

Go Big Avolt is the multi-socket cable collection for homes, offices and public spaces with a magnetic side to be fixed on any vertical or horizontal surface. Its shape is inspired by Bruno Munari's "Square Circle Triangle" trilogy. Avolt received the Red Dot Design Award in 2019.

Go Big Uyuny wax candles are characterised by the patented, chemical-free LED flame movement. The candles can be switched on, off, and adjusted remotely thanks to the remote control with integrated timer function.
