Sustainability is at home at HOMI Independent

The four winners of the Ki-Life Sustainable Award 2022, conceived and promoted by Kiki Lab in cooperation with HOMI, will once again be the protagonists at HOMI Independent.

Among the novelties planned for the autumn edition of HOMI Independent is the new area entirely dedicated to sustainability, a priority and central theme in all areas of production.

 

This space will display the winners in each of the four categories - Environmental, Territorial, Social, and All-round Sustainability - into which the award the Ki-Life Sustainable Award which saw its first edition at the January 2022 edition of HOMI, in collaboration with Kiki Lab. The award was reserved for Italian and international companies that have realised products or projects with a view to Sustainable Development, Environmental Respect and Social Responsibility.

 

So here are the projects we will see again at HOMI Independent:

 

For the Environmental category, the winner Jute&Co will have the opportunity to showcase its eco-friendly carpet Oceania. The products are hand-loomed and made from 100 per cent recycled Pet, with an optimal yield, also from a sensory point of view.

For the Territory category, products linked to the traditions of the territory and projects that return part of the profits to the territory itself, to social and environmental causes, the winner Elena Scarlata will be present. Her eco-friendly travel set made of hand-printed cotton with vegetable dyes and 100 per cent biodegradable, echoes the traditions of deepest Sicily, the designer's homeland. A contemporary reinterpretation of the ancient Sicilian majolica technique of the late 19th century.

 

For the Social category, which includes projects aimed at enhancing communities, associations and their employees, Microbiscottificio Frollawill be present. It is a co-operative that involves socially disadvantaged people in a training and paid employment pathway, aimed at their integration into society. People are involved in all stages of production, from product realisation to packaging.

 

Last but not least, the all-round sustainability category whose winner Grestel - Costa Nova will present the Eco Gres project , a new completely ecofriendly raw material made from recycled materials derived from ceramic surpluses. The result is products with interesting multi-sensory qualities.

 

The next Ki-Life Sustainable Award will be held at HOMI January 2023.
